Mackenzie Oyer is a Writer based in Rochester, New York.

English has been Mackenzie’s passion since she was in middle school. She and her friends passed notebooks back and forth between classes that held stories they would create, with new worlds to explore. Her passion for writing didn’t diminish as she grew, but there were people in her life telling her that she would not be able to make a career out of it. Mackenzie spent ten years in the job market trying to find the place she belonged. After working for two years in a 401k call center, she decided she was not happy with where she was in her life. At that point, she went back to school to pursue her passion. She felt as though she had finally made the correct decision for herself.

Mackenzie worked hard for two years in school, even while carrying, birthing, and raising her daughter. She even achieved Dean’s List every semester, and was inducted into the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society in Spring 2023. Mackenzie is excited for this big step forward she is taking. She can’t wait to see what the future holds for her and what kind of work she will be able to create going forward. She is excited to finally be putting skills to use that she has been fervently cultivating for years.
